"About my English Blog"

During the English class, we made a lot of posts in our blogs, and about this, my opinion is that this activity was the most fruitful experience into the English class; because we could learned a lot of new vocabulary, working with the verbs in different times, writing long texts about my opinion of different topics, etc.

Definitely I enjoyed this experience and more than this; I like so much this practice because I love so much to write about what I think about any topics that someone raise me.

I think that this time of classes making posts help me a lot to improve my English, especially my vocabulary, because I have a very bad memory and I forgot a lot of words in English that I learned in the school some years ago; but this activity using the:“3w.wordreference.com” can remember me a lot of verbs, words, concepts, etc. and I could known a lot of new things with a lot of freedom.

I thing that one of the advantages is that our partners and classmates can give their opinion about our posts and the blog in general, and in this way you can know what are your mistakes an errors in your English use. Another advantage of this is that the teacher can know which are our difficult and in which areas we are more defenceless and complicated; and with this tool she can help us in the best way.

One disadvantage is that we never know if all that we write in the blogs is properly wrote, because during the course the teacher never says us if the posts are good write or if are not. Other of the disadvantages is that maybe some students of the class have a good level to the “writing capacity” and they are only applying their knowledge and other students maybe are very low in the “writing level” and they only use the “wordreference” and they aren’t learning how write in a good way.

But, in general I thing that is a very good practice and I think that I learned a lot of things with this and I like so much to write posts, because is very entertaining and in the same time I’m learning new “English things”.

"Francisca Beytia's Blog"

The blog that I chose is from Francisca Beytia and her blog is called “English 3”. During the third level of the English class, Francisca had written seven posts in total. This post are: “The imaginary man” about Nicanor Parra, “Hornopiren” about her favorite place visited in Chile, “Piece of technology” about her computer with Internet, “The tree of the knowledge” about our career, “My best friend is a street guide dog” about her best friend, “The eye of the Inca” about her favorite picture, and “Creativity is God?” about the video of Ken Robinson and the Creativity.

About her blog, I can see that she has a lot of ease to express her feeling and thinking with words. I know a little to Francisca and I know that when she want to say something talking to our group, this is very difficult for her, and this is not about shyness, because she has a good personality to stand up in front of all and talk what she think, but when she is communicating she star to complicate and she lose the conversation thread; but when she write, she can express very good what she want to say about something; yes we know that the English is difficult for all us, but in general I think that she feels very confidence when she write.

One features that I like about her blog, is that her pictures choice are very beautiful and interesting, I think that she never took any picture at random, in the contrary, she look for a lot of pictures and she select very good which is the best. Another feature that is interesting for me, specially because is something very difficult to me, is that Francisca can summarize all that she think about some topic and write in few lines all that she want; but I like a lot to write and all the times I write and write and write a lot about all.

About her English, I think that she has to improve the use of the verb times and the correct use of the pronouns, because in some posts she want to say: “His name is Lucho” (the name of her dog), and she said “Your name is Lucho”; and the last thing is that she need to improve her capacity to reverse the order of the verbs in comparison with how we use this in Spanish and the difference to use in English.

My favorite post is: “My best friend is a street guide dog” about her best friend, her dog. I think that is very lovely that your best friend can be your pet. I think that the dogs are especially good friends and faithful with the humans, but for a good animal friend I think that the best is a stray dog.

For the end, I can say that this is a very interesting blog, about a lot of different things where I can know a lot of new things about my education classmate called Francisca Beytia. After to read all her blog I say that I like so much this time and I think that Fran is a very passionate person who likes a lot to express what she feel across the words.

"The Schools kill Creativity and we must to stop this "

In this time, I’m going to talk about Ken Robinson and his topic “Schools kill creativity”. About this I agree with him because that’s true. All we know that always in the school, the teacher put us a lot of strict standards to follow and then, they evaluate us with this parameters, and the own creativity has not space.

I think that the children creativity is the most important; it’s the creativity the main element to increase the intelligence, the imagination, the knowledge and the expectations to know more and more about the world.

Ken Robinson said in the video, that one time Picasso said: “all the children are born artists”, the problem is that not all them can continue being artists, because the education makes us less creative. And about this, Robinson say that the creativity in the people has the same importance that the teaching of basic literacy; and into this topic is important that the people learn in their childhood to make mistakes, because in the future the people lost this capacity and this turns catastrophic in the work and emotional future; for my opinion the people that not accept that they are wrong, can’t understand the life and all the bad things that the people must to pass for learn valuable lessons.

I feel that all this is one of the main challenges in the education future, and is very important that all the people in education, especially teachers; work for this cause. All the children have the right to choose the best way to learn and the creativity is one of the most beautiful ways to acquire knowledge with freedom, confidence and without any limits.

"The terrifying face of the Viejito Pascuero next to me"

Hello, in this time I’m going to talk about this photo. My mother takes me this photo in a shopping-mall, when I was 1 year with 7 months of live. This was in December 1991, and this is very funny for me because my face crying is very lovely but is funny, but the Santa Claus’s face scares me when I see the photograph. Well, I have this picture in the wall of my bedroom, next to my bed, and is impossible that someday I don’t see the picture, except the days that I don’t stay in my house. In general, I love all my old pictures about my family in my childhood, because that was great! And I love some recent pictures with my boyfriend about 1 year ago when we started our relationship; but in this case I chose this photo because is very adorable. Always when I watch it, I imagine that moment when my mother takes this picture and I think that maybe, I was very frightened about the “Viejito Pascuero’s face” and this was the reason that made me cry.

I love this picture too, because is a tradition for my family the Christmas picture with the “Viejo Pascuero”, but now the tradition is only for my little sister and my little brother, because me and my other sister are very big to this type of pictures and this should be very shameful for us. Other reason that makes me to love this photo is that, all the Christmas pictures about all us, that my mother keeps in her secret drawer, all my brother and sister’s faces are happy and smiling, but this is the unique photo that she has where someone of us have another face, for example this with a sad face, but this is very funny for her too, in this moments.

Surely no one in my family never will forget this picture and my face and I think and I like that in my future, when I will have my children, I will took their the same type of photography for remember always in the life, my funny picture and maybe, one of them will surprises me with some funny face.

"My best friend Carlitos Vera"

Hello, today I’ll talk you about my best friend named Carlos Vera! He has the same age that me and I knew him 6 years ago in “El Kisko” beach-town.He lives in Algarrobo town, next to El Kisko, and a lot of times I go to this town.

It’s very strange because we don’t have a lot of things in common, but sometimes we don’t see us in a lot of months but, when we met again, it looks how the time would never passed; we stay all the time talking about a lot of things and he talk me about all his problems that he never trust to another people. It’s great that always when I call him to say that I’m going to go to the beach he is waiting for me at the usual place.

We have a very special friendship, because when I was stayed very bad in the past and I suffered a lot, he always stayed there helping to me, listening my problems, advising me and supporting me. But some time after, he had a very very big problem; one of that cases when all the people disappeared and anyone is with you because anyone trust in your word, only the family; but in that time, I stayed with him, just me; and this is a big reason to have affection and friends-love.

We are not so similar, but we have in common that we are very distrustful with our problems and we just trust the important things between us. Other thing is that Carlos and me, love to stay in the street with our friends; and all the times when we stay together we pick up all our friends in the “Villa” and then we stayed a lot of time in some square or in the beach all together. Other things more superficial are that we have the same style of music, clothes, friends, parties, likes, etc. Other important thing is that his family loves me and always when I go to the beach, his family invites me to their home to the tea-time or to lunch, etc. Really, I love his family in special his mother is a very humble and kind person. And the last thing is that Carlos and my boyfriend Bryan are friends, not best friends but they have a good friends-relationship.

We are different because Carlos is very stubborn and he never learns with his mistakes. He says me a lot of times that he will be change but he never makes different things. He is very easily influenced person with his “bad friends” and he always get tired about the study or some jobs. In the contrary, I all the times learn with my mistakes and sometimes without theirs; for me is not important the opinion of the other people and never I’m influenced about bad friends, people or include my family; and I hate the study because is very boring but I know that is important and necessary and I prefer to make the effort now for have a good future, but he wants a very good future without a lot of effort and hard work.

I like him because he is a good person, he is very immature yet, but I know that with the time he will change. He has a hard life and a lot of problems but he has a wonderful family and a very good best friend (me), and that is the only necessary things to come up and prosper how a good person in the life. I like him too, because he is a very good friend, he always take care me in the street and at all places, he understands me and he always tell me that he is capable to give his life by me in some fight or at anytime.

We stayed together in a lot of times, in this 6 years we passed a lot of anecdotes, we met a lot of people and good friends and we know all about our life, and we know that is not important the time and the place where we stay now or in the future; we always will be the best friends.

"About my career needs"

Well, today I've to talk about our career especially about the skills needed to work in this area, where is very important that the person who practice pedagogy has the vocation to teach and favour an ideal learning environment. I think that the main skills needed in my area of study is the ambition, but not the personal profit or economic ambition; this ambition has to be yearn of equity, equal opportunities and a social progress. I think that this skills are essential for improve this area and for contribute to the society, especially to the vulnerable families and to the people who has not the necessary opportunities to emerge or to achieve what they want.

Definitely, this is not the only needed skill, because, for this career and job, we need innovative mentality, a didactic attitude, creativity, patience, love for children, humility, a kind personality and a good way to communicate with partners, families and children. All the other things how are: the knowledge, know how to control a student’s group, to manage in a class, etc. you can learn in the University or in an Institute; but the skills that you need, in general are innate. Maybe you can practice this or you can develop this if you don’t know anything about that, but the majority of the cases, this ability are inborn.
With my little experience in pedagogy practices, I can say that this University doesn’t give to us all the needed tools for this job, because in the practices we don’t know how to help in the classes and maybe, when we will finish the career we will know how act but in the first years, we only have to read and read, and either of this learning is applicable to the practice in kinder-gardens or schools.
About the courses, I think that we need more technical and practical training, because we have a lot of theoretical courses, but we don’t know how to implement a didactic class or how execute the same role that the technician of this career have in the kinder-gardens; and this is very important for me because the teacher of little children have to know how to attend their needs if the assistant is absent. And a main knowledge that we must to have in my opinion, is the course of “First Aid”, because if we suffer an accident with one of the children, is very important that we know what make in this case (and I know that this is very necessary because the kinder-garden where I realized my first practice the last year, hasn’t infirmary and the teacher didn’t know how act in the moment and help the hurt child).
Finally, I can say that I not feel prepared to the future that awaits me, but I expect that in the next 3 years, my classmates and me can know all that is necessary and more, because this country need good teachers and excellent education’s professionals; and I think that this needed professionals will be us.

"Sony Ericsson W-395, the last technological wonder for me"

In this time I’m going to talk about my favorite piece of technology; my cell phone! Oh yes! This is lot better than all technology things that exist now. Thanks to it, I can take photos in anyplace that I stay, I can listen music all the time; in the street when I’m walking alone, in the “micro” bus, in the “metro”, in the class-breaks, even in my bedroom!

Well, some time ago, two cell phones were stolen me in the public transport, but fortunately they not stole me anything more. One year later, in my birthday, my father took me to buy a new cell phone in the Movistar shop. At the first minute when I entered to the shop, I saw my current phone in the showcase and I fell in love to it. My father bought it with a great discount and then the cell phone was my. I have this cell phone since 1 year ago or less, but I chose a very cool phone with the same design that my old stole cell phone.

I use my cell phone all the time, I love it; I miss the old cell phone games, because my new phone has not good games; but it has a lot of memory, I have here a lot of text messages since I start a relationship with my boyfriend and this is very important for me and makes that my cell phone will be sacred!! That is why I use a lot of time my cell, I talk a lot of times in the day with my boyfriend, my mother and sometimes, with my father; because all them like a lot to call me, but I love only talk with my boyfriend all the time in the day, and the cell phone is my most useful tool to this purpose.

I like so much my cell phone too, because has a very loud sound and has a full music volume; and I love to listen music with the maximum volume, very noisy in all places, it’s great!

For the end, I can say that now in this times, I would can’t live without this valuable object; probably all us can live without any luxury, but I’m used to have it and I can imagine how I would can talk with a lot of friends that live very far of my house, in special my boyfriend that I just can see him in the weekend and I need to talk with him everyday.

In conclusion… I LOVE WITH ALL MY HEART MY W-395!!!

"A nice time in Guanaqueros town"

Well, this time I’m going to talk you about one place that I visited with my family and my boyfriend in the summer vacations. The name of this place is “Guanaqueros”; it’s a little beach town located in the Coquimbo region (Chilean North Side), near to Tongoy. This is a very peaceful and quiet place in the day, where you can go for a walk with your people, take a nap in the san in front of the sea, choose some of the many restaurants, “picadas” or places to eat in general that you can find in front of the beach where the Chilean and typical zone food is very cheap in general. And in the nights is a very safe place with not many parties, night life or bohemian.

When I went to Guanaqueros in February, My family, my boyfriend and me, went to this town in our car and the travel takes us some hours (5 or 6 hours). When we arrived, we started to look for some place to camp, and one hour later we found a great place, with a big space in front of the beach. In some hours we could to put up the tent and some other camping things.

We stayed camping during 10 days and we enjoyed so much the place, where we went to eat delicious cheap food, we knew the Tongoy town, me and my boyfriend made “kayak”, I take a lot of sun with my mother, all us played “pool” in a bar, played some games in the sand, and we could talk a lot; in the silence nights.

I recommend you this place if you are looking for a nice, peaceful and familiar time.

"Paulo Freire, the last great pedagogue"

Today I’ m going to talk about someone that I admire, and he is “Paulo Freire”.
Paulo Freire was born on 1921 in Recife, Pernambuco state in Brazil; one of the most poor places in this Latin-American country. He was raised in a middle class family and when he grew up, he took interest on the education for the poor people of his region; and after he finished some law studies, he has developed a “teaching system” for all education levels. He stayed in prison 2 times in Brazil about his “strange” ideas; and then, the people start to know him since today, when he is the most famous educator of our times.

His theory is about that the educational process must be approached in the student’s social environment, and this students how right’s persons must to understand their own reality how a part of their education, and anything that they must to learn, must to be associated to their social context and they have to know the usefulness and the profit of any knowledge, in their life.

In his times, the people called him “revolutionary and ignorant”, but he wrote a lot of works translated in 18 languages; the most famous is “Pedagogia del Oprimido”, dedicated to all the people that feel identify with the poor people, suffer with them and fight with them.

He died in 1997 and today we remember him how an example of educator.

Chile and the "education how a right"

Today I’m going to talk you about my opinion of chilean education.
Well, I’m studying for “Playgroup assistant and elementary teaching”, the unique career of education in the Universidad de Chile, and one of my powerful reasons to study education, is because I think that in Chile, the education is an awful reality. I think that the school education must be a right and a obligation for all children in our country and around the world, and the higher education must be a right for all people that want it, without that this important opportunity depends of the salary, the social class, the place where you live, the culture you come from, the color of your skin, your race, or a lot of other factors that today the people discriminate.
In Chile, the education is only a profit and a business, with which the private company makes rich and earn a lot of money; and the government only still the inequality, injustice and not give to the people, the opportunity for the progress.
Really, the public education is very very bad compare with private education. Boys and Girls that studied in private schools can come to University without make a previous preparation and if they need this, they all can pay it; whereas in the state education, children and young people a lot of times have to work for help their families, in the same time they have to study in the school, and all them if they want to have a higher education, they have work again for pay a technical career in a institute, or some cheap private university or work more time to pay a previous preparation for the PSU and then continue working for pay a god career in a state university where is very difficult to enter.
The biggest problem of education is that only the rich people can receive this in the good way, and the poor people and the mid class have to resign with the bad education for their children and accept that they don’t have the opportunity for improve and have a best and decent salary, and our work is that we turns up an excellent professionals of education and in 4 o 5 years more, we work in public schools or state kinder-gardens, for improve the education and give this right for all the children and people that never have the possibility to study in a good and joust way.
About my education, I think this wasn’t good but this could be worse, but I was lucky because I could prepare my PSU, but I want that in the future this previous preparation will be not necessary and all young people have the possibility to enter in the University if they want, and they can study a career for their real vocation.
I don’t know a lot about the education projects and proposes yet, and I don’t know if this exist now, but I have all prospects that the work that me and all my classmates will make in the future, change a lot the life of the people who need us and the society.

"Fall in love with the most romantic and tragic realistic film in the History; TITANIC"

Really I can say that never in my life I saw a better movie than “Titanic” produced and directed by James Cameron. It’s true that some movies how are “What dreams may come”, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Notebook and some others are very good films and are other of my favorites movies; but Titanic is for me, unique.
The first time that I saw this movie was in February 1998, when this film just was in the Chilean Cinema. In this time I was eight years old and my parents invited me to see this movie. I can remember that this was an exciting experience, because this was the first time that I saw a film not for children.
Well, I remember too, that during the film I cry a lot in the scene where Jack Dawson (Leonardo Dicaprio) died in the cold sea, because I’m very sensitive and I felt sadness. The true is that I love this film, I can see Titanic a million of times and never this turns boring for me. I think that Titanic is the most wonderful romantic story and also, is one of the most realistic films existing, and not only about the special effects, as well the history, the scenes, the performance of the characters, etc. And the most exciting thing of the film are the tension moment how are when the ship is sinking, or when Rose (Kate Winslet) and Jack escaped of the Rose’s family into the ship, and when the vigilant sailors see the iceberg in front of the ship and all the people start to exasperated.
Clearly I can’t explain “What makes it better than other movies”, but if you want to know that, you only have to see this film. Definitely it’s the best movie in the history and if you don’t see yet, you are missing a great experience and you future favorite film.

Earthquake Activity

On February 27th I was lonely in my house because all my family went to vacations in the south side of Chile, at Puerto Montt. In the evening, my boyfriend came to my house for stayed with me.

In the night we were watching the television together. Some minutes after the finishing of “Festival de Viña”, I put on the DVD the Titanic movie; then I went to the bathroom and when I was opening the door, the earthquake started.

I was very nervous and scared. I’m only wanted to escape, and I just shouted. My boyfriend came to me and he said me “sit down, is only an earth tremor”, but I was very nervous and I took his hand and we ran out to the house. When we arrived outside, we stayed with my boyfriend and some neighbors until 6:00 AM. at the street. That was a horrible moment, my legs was shaking about the fear that I was feeling. I couldn’t believe that this was real, because I only saw in movies or television. And, I was so worried about my family, because I knew that my mother was thinking that I was bad and I couldn’t call her.

When the earthquake stopped, we entered to the house for get a lantern, but this was very difficult because there was very dark. Then we took it and we stayed all the night seated in the kitchen chairs. The woman with her two children that lives in front of my house was very very scared and she went to my house all the time for not stayed alone.

That night I couldn’t sleep anything and the next day in the morning, with my boyfriend took the minibus to his house and we stayed together all the day and in the night I went to my aunt’s house, and I stayed in her house all the week until my family could come back to Santiago on Thursday, 6 days after the earthquake.

About me and my expectations

Hello teacher, my name is Vanessa Cea, and I’m studying on the second year of “Playgroup assistant and elementary teaching career” at the Social Sciences Faculty. The last year I’m learning some of english on “English 2 Course” with Belen Farias how our teacher. I like very much my career, but more than the subjects; I love the Practice Time, because I love so much the little children and I think that the best thing in the world is that you can see their growth and learning process.
In general I think that this career is one of the most important of all, because is in the chilhood when the education is essential and is when you can see the most big and exciting changes in their personalities and knowledge.
My expectations for this English 3 class is that I can learn more about this language and will came to know how talk in english in front of the other people.
